Winter storm prompts CMV journey restrictions in Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania Division of Transportation has introduced journey restrictions on some highways forward of the winter storm anticipated to ship ice, snow and excessive winds Thursday and Friday.

The restrictions embrace:

Tier 1 Car Restriction – No Empty CMVs might be ACTIVE as of Thursday at 1 a.m. for the next route(s) – I-70 from the MD Line to PA Turnpike (I-76), I-79 from PA Turnpike (I-76) to I-80 and I-80 from I-79 to Exit 173 (Lamar) 

Tier 1 Car Restriction – No Empty CMVs might be ACTIVE as of Thursday at 6 a.m. for the next route(s) – I-81 from the MD Line to I-80, I-83 from MD Line to I-81 and I-283.

Tier 1 Car Restriction – No Empty CMVs might be ACTIVE as of Thursday at midday for the next route(s) – I-81 from I-380 to NY Line, I-84 and I-380.

Tier 2 Car Restriction – No Empty or Loaded Double CMVs might be ACTIVE as of Thursday at 1 a.m. for the next route(s) – I-70 from I-79 to PA Turnpike (I-76)

Tier 3 Car Restriction – No CMVs besides these with CHAINS ON BOARD might be ACTIVE as of Thursday at 1 a.m. for the next route(s) – I-99 Complete Size.

Tier 3 Car Restriction – No CMVs besides these with CHAINS ON BOARD might be ACTIVE as of Thursday at 1 a.m. for the next route(s) – PA Turnpike (I-70/76) from the New Stanton Exit 75 to the Breezewood Exit 161

Tier 1 Car Restriction – No Empty CMVs might be ACTIVE as of Thursday at midday for the next route(s) – PA Turnpike Northeast Extension (I-476) from Lehigh Valley Exit 56 to Clarks Summit Exit 131
